Fossils in Inzai, Chiba
May 25, 2003

This corner introduces some fossils which were collected by my family around the Inzai, Chiba-Prefecture which is located about 50 km far from east direction of central of Tokyo.

The plateau around Tokyo about 0.3 million years ago in the period of Pleistocene was covered by sea, and so many creatures such as shells and sea urchins have benn piled from that period. It is called as Narita Formation now, and more than 200 kinds of fossils such as shells and sea urchins have been reported as of today.

This corner introduces a small number of fossils in the Narita Formation. But, if you enjoy the tour of this corner, it is very much appreciated.
