Trip for old border in Germany

In 1998, I have visited the city of Braunschweig in Germany on business. At that time, I have visited an old border of West and East Germany during the weekend.

The old border is located about 50 km in the direction of South-East from the Braunschweig.
The left side picture shows the border fence constructed by East Germany.

It seems that the fence is made by wire.

But, it is actually made by punching metal and very thick one. According to the German friend, very high voltage was applied on the fence during a cold war.

The left side picture shows the situation of the border.

The foreground in the illustration is a side of East Germany, and there was no fence at a side of West Germany.

The left side picture shows the guard-house at the border of East Germany.

It seems that the building is not preserved so well.

The picture shows the Trabanta.
