In June 1998, I have been city of Braunschweig
in Germany on business. At that time, I visited
the forest of Harz which is located approximately
70 km far from the Braunschweig during the
weekend. This is a very famous place by witch
who gets on a broom. And also, famous mountain
called Mt. Brocken (1142 m height) is there.
I have enjoyed mountain climbing when I was
young, and therefore, I know very well about
the name of Mt. Brocken.
When I was staying in West Germany
from 1979
through to 1983, I wanted to go there.
But,
it seems impossible for me because
the Mt.
Brocken was located in the territory
of East
Germany.
I could accomplished one of my dream
that
I wanted to visit Mt. Brocken during
the
trip this time. |

I could go the peak of Mt. Brocken by a steam locomotive (SL) train operated
by railway company called as HSB. The left side picture shows the station
of Schierke which is located at the foot of the mountain. This station
is located in the middle of the forest of Harz, and there is no man-made
things around here. |

The left side picture shows the steam locomotive (SL) train just started
to go down for the Schierke station. As shown here, the train goes down
with opposite formation. |

The picture shows the top of Mt. Brocken.
Frankly speaking, I just disappointed
about
the view of top because so many man-made
things are there.
There is a museum on top of mountain
which
exhibits some of radio equipment used
during
the second war. |

The picture shows the old town of city of
Goslar. This city was prospering during
the
middle ages from 15th till 16th century.
But, the town still retains some traces
of
its former prosperity. Also, Siemens's
house
is located in the city. The Siemens
is a
very famous person who found the electric
company of Siemens in Germany. |

The picture shows the view of auto-bahn (motor
highway) in Germany. I'm not sure that
who
took this picture and how fast does
the vehicle
run? |
