Trip for Romantic Street in Germany
1980.6

I'd like to introduce my memory that I traveled alone by car for Romantic Street (Romantische Strasse) in Germany during June 5 to 7, 1980 when I lived in Germany.

The Romantic Street was a main route for which used as trading between the middle of Germany and south of Italy in the Middle Ages. The route from Wuerzburg to Fuessen is about 250 km long, and this street is now called as "Romantic Street". There are so many old building on the street.

I started from Duesseldorf by my car and arrived at Wuerzburg about 2.5 hours later.

Some signs indicating for Romantic Street can be seen on the load. The left side picture shows it.

The left side picture shows the streets and the houses in the Middle Ages of Rothenburg.

This town is protected from the attack outside by three castle walls, and those walls were constructed in the 9th to 13th century, but are well preserved now.

There is a very famous church called as "Church of Wies" which is located abount 5 km far from the town of Steingaden.

The terminal city of the Romantic Street is Fuessen.

The quite nice castle called as "Neuschwanstein" is risen in this city as shown in the left side picture.

The travel of the Romantic Street is finished at Fuessen. But, let's go to Austria.

The left side picture shows the city of Innsbruck in Austria.

I like this city very much because I can see the beautiful scenery of European Alps from the central of the city.

The left side picture shows the view of top of the Mt. Zugspitze, which is highest mountain in Germany (2966 m high).

It is located near the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The aerial tramway can carry the tourists to top of the mountain.

There is a boader between Germany and Austria and there were immigration offices at the top of the mountain when I visited here in 1980.

The left side picture is a view of border between Austria and Germany.

But, it is now free to move between those two countries because of European Union for both countries.
